OPPORTUNITIES FOR MINISTRY

In Episcopal terms, all laypeople are Ministers --- they do the real Ministry of Christ in the world. The priests and deacons are there to support the Ministers (the laity), to help train them, and bring the resources of Jesus Christ to them. Below are a list of some forms of Ministry in the Church. There are many more.

Acolytes:

All Saints has an extraordinarily active acolyte program through which many parish youth enhance our worship each Sunday. An acolyte assists in the church service as Crucifer and torchbearers.

There are only three requirements: age 10 or older, desire and dedication. Each candidate is fully trained to easily accomplish the tasks they are expected to perform before being placed in the service situation.

Adult Bible Study:

Every Sunday at 9 am before the Holy Eucharist, from November to April. This Bible Study is run by Deacon Nancy Allaire.

 Altar Guild:

A group of dedicated individuals that prepares the church for worship at the Eucharist, weddings, funerals and other ceremonies.

Altar Flowers:

You are invited to glorify God by beautifying His altar with flowers.  Select a Sunday of your choice for memorials, in thanksgiving or special occasions ($30.00 each arrangement) Sign up sheet in the narthex.  Kairos:

For about five years we’ve being involved in Kairos prison ministry. Kairos is a Christian ministry which spreads the love of Jesus through fellowshipping with men behind bars. We participate specifically at Centinela and Calipatria State Prison B yard. We also have participation by church members who give their time by prayer, by letters, and by coming to the closing ceremony at the end of the biannual 3day weekend. More than 6,000 Christmas card were distributed among the residents in Centinela Prison last December. We at All Saints believe that we can show Jesus’ love by being involved in this prison ministry.

 Lectors:

Assist in the worship service by reading the lessons and leading in the Prayers of the People.

Sunday School:

Christian Education is very important for us. Children of all ages are welcome to our classes. (The Sunday School is suspended at the moment until we have more children.)
